Glove mode
- 1 Glove mode
- 2 Volume keys as buttons
- 3 High contrast and 72 dp buttons
- Turn on Glove mode.
- Volume keys as buttons — + / − on counters, accept or save & next on forms, mark again / undo when marking. Vibrate on each key action confirms each press; Read values back aloud speaks what was entered.
- High-contrast colours (black on white, for bright light) and extra-large buttons (72 dp targets for gloved hands).
Volume keys as buttons (marking)
On the marking tally, with Eyes-free › Volume keys on: volume down adds one tree to the selected species and class (hold it to talk), volume up undoes the last tree. While a voice proposal is waiting, volume down confirms it and volume up discards it; holding volume up does nothing, so a squeeze in the pocket can’t undo. Everywhere else the keys change the volume. While it is on, it replaces glove mode’s marking keys. See Eyes-free marking.
Connect an instrument
- 4 Bluetooth instrument (Vertex Laser Geo2)
- 5 Keyboard-mode instruments (calipers)
- Bluetooth instrument — the Haglöf Vertex Laser Geo2 over Bluetooth Low Energy (nearby, no pairing) or Bluetooth Classic (pair it in Android’s Bluetooth settings first; the PIN is shown). Tap Search for 10 s and choose it. The app asks for Bluetooth (and, on older Android, location) permission to scan — no location is recorded for this.
- Keyboard-mode instrument — calipers such as Masser or Haglöf Digitech set to keyboard (HID) mode: pair in Android’s Bluetooth settings, then choose it here. Each reading it types goes into the field you are on.
Readings are proposals
- 6 The connected instrument
- 7 The reading, proposed into the field you are on
- 8 Not data until you accept it
- The chip at the top of the capture screen shows the connected instrument.
- A reading arrives as a proposal in the field you are on — PROPOSED · Instrument · Not counted yet — with Accept, Edit and Reject.
- Accept it before saving. The bottom bar says so: it is not data until you do.
What it doesn’t do (yet)
- The Vertex 5 and the Masser / Digitech Bluetooth (non-keyboard) formats are not published: use a keyboard mode if the instrument has one, or type the value. The supported list on the phone says which.
- Instruments have been tested against their documentation, not on every device; check readings on your own kit first.
