Switch from spreadsheets
Move years of tally sheets and inventory spreadsheets into the app stand by stand, so your history becomes the first points of each stand’s trend — without retyping.

A plan that works
- Set up the woodland first — client, property, compartments and stands with boundaries (Set up woodlands), and the stand’s methods (Methods & targets). Imports land on a stand.
- Lay out or recreate the plots with the same references your spreadsheets use (P01, P02…). Unknown references become a question; you can let the import create them.
- Start with your most recent inventory of one stand. Upload it with Import anything, answer the questions, check the preview, confirm.
- Save the mapping as a format. Earlier years with the same headers are then read the same way, without AI.
- Import older inventories one by one. Each dated inventory becomes a visit; tagged trees measured twice give growth, recruitment and mortality.
- Check Results. With three visits the trend to target gets its 90 % interval.
Tips from the preview
- Say whether a column is a girth or a diameter, and its unit — the app will not guess.
- Day/month dates that cannot be months are read correctly; ambiguous ones become a question.
- Totals rows are left out and reported.
- Rows with errors can be left out on confirm; fix them in the file and import them later.
Not tree tallies?
- Deer cull returns, bird or flora records, habitat maps become datasets — context beside the results.
- Interventions (thinnings with dates and basal area removed) can be imported or entered under Work done (Planned work).
- Boundaries from GIS: a zipped Shapefile, KML or GeoJSON.
What it doesn’t do (yet)
- No bulk import of a whole estate in one step: imports are per property or stand, so each can be reviewed.
- Old visits are scored with the method versions in force on their dates; there is no back-dating of objectives other than their effective from date.
